Triple Victor raced hard in June. We had athletes compete in IM Boulder, IM Wisconsin 70.3, IM Costa Rica 70.3, and IM Buffalo Springs Lake 70.3, all performing well and pushing limits!
Team Doc Amanda Allen took on IM Wisconsin 70.3 on June 11th in Madison, WI. Doc was also racing for charity through Smile Train to turn those miles into smiles. She had a 43:54 swim, a 3:32:31 bike, and a 3:03:34 run on hot day in the Wisconsin summer for a total of 7:28, finishing 64th in her age group.
At the same time, new team member Darin Miller took on IM Boulder in Colorado. Darin had a great fifth IM, completing the swim in 1:11:23, the bike in 6:45:13, and the run in 5:21:41 for a total of 13:39:44. Darin finished 59th in his age group for a solid first performance.
On June 18th Gee Garner put the pedal to the metal in Costa Rica, finishing 16th in his age group with a total time of 5:26:11. He had a 38:55 swim, a 2:29:07 bike, and a 2:12:51 run in a tropical paradise!
Closing out the month, Brendon Terry and Dave Mudek, supported by Amanda Allen as Sherpa Extraordinaire, took on multiple triathlons at Buffalo Springs Lake in Lubbock, Texas. On June 24th, Brendon finished 2nd overall and 1st in his age group in the Tri Raider Sprint Triathlon with a time of 1:16:48. He swam a 6:28 500m swim, a 47:26 17.6 Mile Bike, and then a 19:57 5k run, being narrowly beaten by just 17 seconds by the winner who turned in an amazing 17:49 run time. This race age group win qualified him for the USAT Age Group Nationals in Omaha, NE on August 12th.
The next day, both Brendon and Dave took on IM Buffalo Springs Lake 70.3 and turned in impressive performances. Dave finished in 4:48:55, earning him a 9th place AG finish, his best yet at an IM race. Dave had a 38:25 swim, a 2:36:26 bike, and an impressive run of 1:31:10. Brendon finished in 4:53:53 and 14th in his age group, a personal best for him at an IM event. He had a great swim of 33:49, a solid bike on a hilly course of 2:34:54, and a run of 1:41:57.
June was a busy month early in the season for 3V. Up next in July, Dave Mudek, Noah Sandler, Gee Garner, and Darin Miller will take on IM Santa Rosa on the 30th.
