"It's going to come down to who wants it more, and who's done the mental training."

Montgomery Goodermont
I picked up cycling about 4 years ago after watching what my dad, Brandon Goodermont, had accomplished on his bike after a short amount of time. He trained for his first century ride in just 4 weeks. I was always the child to follow in his footsteps, so it was natural that I picked up cycling shortly after watching this accomplishment.
Jump to nearly 3 1/2 years later and I have finished several organized century rides and conquered L'Etape California in April 2017.
It's said that there is a natural progression of things in this world. After riding with my dad and his Ironman friends for a couple months, it only seemed natural that I would pick up the sport as well. I started triathlon training at the end of July and competed in the Green Valley Lake Aquathon as the run part of a relay team. This was the first race experience I had ever had and took 1st place in the relay men's division.
I competed in my first triathlon at Trick or Tri on October 28, 2017. I placed 135th overall out of 226 competitors for the Olympic distance.
