I am a 57-year-old Internal Medicine physician practicing in San Diego, California. I am a former high-level competitive figure skater turned cyclist. In 2012, as part of a metabolic workup for my cycling coach, I had a bone density scan done. I was diagnosed with osteopenia (the precursor to osteoporosis). My coach recommended that I start a running program to strengthen my bones. I turned out to be a great runner. When a friend suggested that I consider triathlon, I was intrigued. First I had to learn to swim. I raced my first ever triathlon (ITU Olympic World Triathlon) just two months to the day of my first swim lesson. I was hooked. I have since raced several Sprint, Olympic, 70.3 and Full Ironman races in addition to several half and full-marathons. Racing on the Triple Victor Race Team has given me the motivation, support, and encouragement needed to train and race harder. I have seen tremendous gains in my athletic abilities over the past few years and look forward to continuing on that upsloping trajectory with this great team.
